Our world has changed in the past few years. We now live in a world where malicious cyber attacks are a growing problem. But the question is, how can you tell if you were a victim of a malicious attack?
Chris Avellone is the lead developer of The Elder Scrolls, Fallout 2, and Fallout: New Vegas. He’s also a co-founder of Obsidian Entertainment, which he served as the company’s vice president and creative director. So, apparently he’s the main guy in the Fallout franchise. However, he was recently ambushed by someone who used a proxy to post a series of fake blog posts as a way of trying to hurt his reputation within the gaming community. Those posts were posted at a site called The Gaming Ground , and they included personal attacks on Avellone.
Chris Avellone, the lead writer behind Obsidian Entertainment’s Fallout: New Vegas, has been named the victim of a cyber attack, according to tweets from his wife, writer Kate Avellone. The tweets claim that the couple are under attack and that their email accounts are being pestered. The Avellones haven’t yet disclosed what the main points of the cyber attack are, although Chris Avellone did tweet, “Please note that the email accounts on which this is being read are not under attack. I’ve had to use a burner email for the last week or so because a variety of scammers have used my email account to send spam. We’re working the issue.”
The long-awaited sequel to the Stalker trilogy is finally a fact that we will be able to experience very soon! The official release date is scheduled for the 28th. April 20, 2022 is set, and we can finally mark our calendars and look forward to the release.
The game is currently available for pre-order on Steam, so grab a Steam OffGamers wallet code if you’re interested!
It was announced in 2010, but due to development issues, it won’t be released until 2022. It was supposed to be released in 2012, but was cancelled and re-announced in 2018 as the version it is today. We got this surprise from Microsoft at E3 2021 and we can’t wait to try Stalker 2 to see what GSC Game World has in store for us.
For those unfamiliar with the Stalker franchise, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! Note that we’re using Stalker instead of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. because it saves on typing. The acronym stands for Scavengers, Trespassers, Adventurers, Loners, Killers, Explorers and Robbers, which has significance for the entire franchise.
The Stalker series is primarily set in the forbidden zone of Chernobyl, and each game focuses on a different character trying to survive the reactor disaster.
Of course, in a radioactive environment, all sorts of living things, from humans to animals, will mutate. But the biggest attraction of this radioactive world is the artifacts found. These artifacts are powerful enough to grant regeneration powers and reduce radiation levels, and you will encounter many of them along the way.
What is it?
Not much is known about the game yet, but here’s what we do know. The essence of the game is similar to previous games, in which bounty hunters (of which you are one) go to the forbidden zone of Chernobyl, attracted by its secrets and treasures. The area itself is full of strange anomalies, dangerous creatures and powerful artifacts that you must discover.
You have to go deep into Chernobyl and discover something powerful in the middle of the area that is a threat to everyone in the region.
The story is not linear, so every decision you make has consequences. Plus, the game has multiple endings that you can unlock, so replayability is guaranteed. By that, of course, we mean that there are good and so-called bad endings that you can solve. We simply recommend that depending on how you feel in certain situations, you choose an ending that suits you.
Although the game won’t be out until next year, pre-orders are already available with some nice bonuses, as seen below:
⦁ Expanded campfire content
⦁ Exclusive weapon skin
⦁ Exclusive armor skin
⦁ Early Bird icon in multiplayer.
Of course, there are also different editions to choose from, such as the Deluxe Edition with in-game cosmetics and the Ultimate Edition with story expansions and a Season Pass. There’s also a limited edition and a collector’s edition if you’re a fan. Of course, they all have different prices depending on the edition.
Here’s the trailer for those who are interested:
Over the years we’ve gotten several gameplay images of Stalker 2, most recently the trailer shown at Microsoft’s E3 2021. In the trailer, we saw some gruesome battles and some quiet moments around the campfire that will become your back base. There’s even a scene where you search for an artifact in a swamp while a monster gets sucked into an anomaly.
The trailer also shows the protagonist Skiff assembling, attaching and firing weapons. The trailer is certainly action-packed, but let’s not forget the survival elements that the game is also known for. Your radiation meter, hunger and stamina must be balanced to survive in the hostile world of Chernobyl.
In terms of world size, Stalker 2 will be one of the largest open-world games players will ever explore. This distinguishes it from previous editions, where the research was limited. Let’s not forget that apart from the open world survival mechanics, this game is essentially a first person shooter.
Here’s the trailer with the developer’s comments:
Optical and technical improvements
If we’re talking about a game that was supposed to come out some 11 years ago, we can naturally expect it to get some visual and technical improvements. This is especially true because modern technology is much more advanced than it was just a few years ago.
So SGR has confirmed that the game Stalker 2 on the Xbox Series X/S will have both RTX support and 4K resolution. For now, the game is exclusive to the Xbox console (not counting the PC version), but it may also come out on the PlayStation in the future, so stay tuned!
Do I have to play other Stalker games first?
If you want to know my opinion, I recommend you to play the other games first to see how the game will be. It puts things in perspective, and you won’t be disappointed as far as game mechanics go.
The developers of the game even agree that you should try other games first, as is quoted on SGR’s website: Stalker 2 is a separate project that can stand on its own. At the same time, we recommend you to play out the previous games for maximum immersion. So listen to his advice!
